"By interoperating and integrating with major vendors like Juniper
Networks, we have accelerated the ability of mobile operators to deploy
multi-vendor, best-of-breed WiMAX networks," said Rehan Jalil, president
and CEO of WiChorus. "The consortium of companies that is enabling the
deployment of open and best-of-breed WiMAX Networks continues to grow.
It has provided dependable means for the operators to build most
advanced, cost-effective and future-proof WiMAX networks, without
traditional vendor lock-ins."
San Jose, CA -- WiChorus, provider of the industry's most scalable
platforms for Smart 4G Networks, today announced that it has
successfully completed interoperability testing (IOT) between WiChorus'
Intelligent ASN gateway and Juniper Networks Service Provider

Successful
interoperability demonstrates the availability of an open WiMAX
ecosystem that promises greater flexibility for mobile operators, and
increased innovation and growth for the market as a whole. With open
standards, mobile operators have the flexibility to choose from a large
ecosystem of best-of-breed equipment including Radius Authentication,
Authorization and Accounting (AAA) Servers, ASN gateways and Home
Agents.
"The interoperability of our SBR Server platform for WiMAX with the
WiChorus ASN Gateway help operators to accelerate the delivery of WiMAX
and advanced mobile services," said Mallik Tatipamula, vice president,
mobile/FMC Business, Juniper Networks. "By supporting interoperability
with systems from leading WiMAX vendors such as WiChorus, we are
fostering an open environment for mobile operators to expand and
accelerate service model innovation by enabling providers to rapidly and
cost-effectively introduce new services such as WiMAX."

The One Open WiMAX initiative has accelerated the availability of WiMAX
Forum-compliant infrastructure equipment; ensuring service providers
have the option to combine best-of-breed equipment to build their
networks. WiChorus is making the goal of an open ecosystem a reality
through its participation in the WiMAX Forum and its industry-leading
One Open WiMAX initiative. The goal of this initiative is to ensure
fully open WiMAX standards, including the adoption of a single open R6
interface, and to demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability across the
entire mobile ecosystem. With a standard, open R6 interface, mobile
operators have the flexibility to choose from a large ecosystem of
best-of-breed equipment, including base stations and ASN gateways.
