Broadband Expansion and Scalability

airBand Communications Names John McLeod EVP of Operations and Technology

Other Topics: WiMAX World Attendance, TDD Interoperability

airBand Communications Inc.
Oct. 31, 2005

21-year veteran will drive the expansion and scalability of airBand’s network and operations

Dallas, TX -- airBand Communications Inc., the largest fixed wireless company for business customers in the United States, today announced that John McLeod will join airBand on November 7 as the company’s Executive Vice President of Operations and Technology. In this role, McLeod will lead all aspects of operations including engineering, provisioning, field operations, customer care and information technology.

Most recently, McLeod was chief operating officer of Austin-based Broadwing Communications, a broadband communications provider, where he was responsible for engineering and operating the company’s nationwide fiber network, as well as managing information technology and customer-facing functions including provisioning, customer support and the Network Operations Center. Previously, he served as senior vice president of operations at Metromedia Fiber Network (MFN) where he was instrumental in expanding the company’s network and operations structure into new markets.

“airBand is uniquely positioned to succeed with enterprise customers by delivering a growing portfolio of broadband services over its wireless network with an unwavering commitment to service,” McLeod said. “I am eager to start working with the team as it embarks upon an aggressive growth plan that we believe will set the standard for delivering fixed wireless broadband communications.”

“John’s extensive technical and operating experience will enable airBand to increase the breadth of the company’s service offerings, expand into new markets and deliver a superior level of service to customers,” said Mark Spagnolo, president and CEO of airBand. “His leadership and proven track record will drive the scalability that enables airBand to capture market share, thereby creating significant shareholder value.”
