4G WiMAX Devices

Sequans Powers Additional HTC 4G WiMAX Devices New smartphones and tablets launch in US and Korea

BUSINESS WIRE
August 2, 2011

PARIS 4G chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. SQNS +2.91% is the provider of the WiMAX chip inside four HTC devices recently launched in Korea and the United States. In Korea, the HTC EVO 4G+ smartphone and the HTC Flyer 4G tablet became available on July 1 through Korea Telecom, and in the United States, the HTC EVO(TM) 3D smartphone and the HTC EVO View 4G(TM) tablet became available on June 24 through Sprint. In addition to these four new devices, Sequans also supplied the WiMAX chip for the original HTC EVO(TM) 4G and HTC EVO Shift 4G(TM) smartphones from Sprint, and the HTC EVO WiMAX smartphone from KDDI in Japan. The number of HTC devices powered by Sequans' 4G technology now available in the marketplace totals seven.

These devices include Sequans' 4G WiMAX technology and the advanced capabilities of the Android(TM) operating system.

"We are pleased to continue our very successful collaboration with HTC in bringing these new 4G devices to market," said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. "HTC is known for its innovation and the HTC brand is now clearly linked with the state-of-the-art in 4G devices."

The WiMAX chip inside the HTC devices is Sequans' SQN1210, one of the most highly integrated semiconductor solutions in the industry. The SQN1210 is highly optimized for mobile handsets, delivering baseband and triple band RF integrated in a single, 65 nm die for ultra low power consumption and ultra high performance at a very low cost. These innovations enable users to enjoy faster web browsing and smoother streaming media playback. The chip also features Sequans' patented dual transmit uplink technology, a technology pioneered by Sequans that can greatly improve coverage and performance.
