Wireless Backhaul Solutions

BLiNQ Networks Expands Management Team

Marketwire
July 6, 2011

Industry Veterans Bring Extensive Wireless Experience to BLiNQ's Management Team

PLANO, TX  - BLiNQ Networks Inc. today announced the expansion of its management team with the additions of industry veterans Chris Zappala as Vice President Business Development and Radu Selea as Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

"Chris and Radu bring additional talent and depth to our management team as we begin market trials of BLiNQ's wireless backhaul solutions," said Carleton Miller, CEO of BLiNQ Networks. "Their experience and expertise will bolster our ability to bring our wireless backhaul solution to market to help operators cost-effectively and rapidly scale mobile data networks to eliminate capacity hotspots and coverage dead zones."

Zappala joins BLiNQ with more than 24 years experience in the management, research, design and development of sophisticated RF electronics related to cellular digital communications systems, radar systems, and high power solid state transmitters. He comes from Andrew Wireless Solutions, a Commscope Company, where he headed R&D for the Base Station Subsystems Group. Under Zappala's leadership, the company entered a new high growth product category and developed strong relationships with top tier mobile operators. Prior to that, Zappala was a founding member of Celiant Corporation and has held several engineering roles at Lucent and Watkins-Johnson. Zappala holds thirteen patents. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from Lafayette College, Easton, PA and a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD.

Selea joins BLiNQ from Redline Communications where he was Co-founder, CTO and VP of Engineering. He developed strategies and lead the product development for a product line of wireless OFDM/OFDMA access and backhaul solutions, including the first worldwide WiMAX certified base station and subscriber unit that created the foundation for Redline's IPO. Throughout his career, Selea worked with IEEE and the WiMAX Forum and was instrumental in establishing global standards for wireless technologies. Selea also served as Engineering Director at Hefaistos, which he co-founded in 1994. Selea holds a Masters degree in Automation and Computer Science (Honors) from the University of Craiova, Romania.
