AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS and MOSCOW -- InfiNet Wireless, a global
provider of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) and pre-WiMAX equipment
for last mile connectivity and private and public networks, today
announced that Enforta BV has selected the company as the wireless
equipment provider for a nationwide broadband network. Enforta,
headquartered in The Netherlands and 50% owned by Sumitomo Corp., has
significant operator holdings throughout Russia. InfiNet Wireless and
Enforta signed an equipment supply agreement which will lead to the
creation, over the next 24 months, of the largest WiMAX network in the
Russian Federation spanning 28 major cities.
"This relationship is a clear win for everyone," said Lee Sparkman,
president of Enforta. "Tens of thousands of Russians in
medium-to-large sized cities across the country will finally be able
to easily and affordably obtain broadband access. InfiNet Wireless was
a natural choice for the project due to their strong local presence,
technical support and superb Russian R&D center."
The network, utilizing the InfiNet Wireless Series 5000 family of
broadband wireless routers, promises to dramatically increase Internet
access throughout Russia. Internet availability is currently below
20%, with broadband access below 2% of the total population. Initial
deployments have already proven successful in the city of Novosibirsk
and roll-outs are underway in another 10 cities across Russia.
"We are very excited to join forces with Enforta to provide vital
broadband communications services for corporate, government and
residential subscribers across the 11 time zones of Russia," said
Robert Stubblebine, CEO of InfiNet Wireless. "Our quality and
reputation were just as important as our product performance to
Enforta."
InfiNet Wireless equipment offers unsurpassed reliability, performance
and flexibility to design, build and manage fixed and nomadic wireless
access networks. With over 300 commercial and corporate networks
operating in more than 30 countries around the world InfiNet is well
equipped to provide the quality, throughput and reliability required
for such a large scale multi-service WiMAX network.
