Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 4, 2007 -- Mobile Metrics has released the
Torrent 7200 for WiMAXTM Base Station testing system. The 1.0 release of
the Torrent 7200 offers the most strenuous application traffic testing
of WiMAX Base Stations available, saturating a Base Station with the
traffic of thousands of simulated mobiles. |
"We are pleased to offer
a WiMAX Base Station product that takes advantage of the Torrent
platform's unique traffic testing capabilities," said Asa Atallah, CEO
of Mobile Metrics, Inc. "The Torrent 7200 builds on the Torrent 7100
foundation, which already features an extensive range of WiMAX test
capabilities."
The Torrent 7200 WTS is designed to test WiMAX Base Stations in two
major ways: application traffic testing over real or simulated R1
airlinks, and R6 testing to verify conformance against the March 2007
version of the WiMAX Forum NWG Specifications. Mobile Metrics' other
WiMAX product, the Torrent 7100 WTS, was released in September 2006 as
the world's first commercial tool to provide traffic and conformance
testing of the ASN (Access Service Network) Gateway and the CSN
(Connectivity Service Network).
"Mobile Metrics' theme is 'First. Focused. Flexible.', and the Torrent
7000 series is a great example," said Cecil Taylor, Vice-President of
Sales and Product Management. "The 7100 was first to market, and we're
showing WiMAX leadership again with the 7200. While most tools vendors
advertise the ability to simulate the application traffic of 100 or
fewer mobiles over the airlink, the 7200 leads the way by simulating
thousands. The 7200 emerges from our company's specialized focus on
wireless data. Finally, the 7200 offers three ways to simulate airlinks
into R1, demonstrating the tool's flexibility. Also, our Torrent
software is flexible enough to run on any Linux-based PC, so our
customers can quickly ride the technology curve for greater
performance."
The 1.0 release of the 7200 also includes the patent-pending filtering
layer, a method by which messages entering and exiting nodes can be
manipulated to create various success and error scenarios. In May, a 1.1
release will add built-in testcases to exercise Base Station R6
conformance against the March 2007 version of the NWG Specification.
Mobile Metrics offers a powerful mobile traffic simulator, the MTS-7200,
which can simulate hundreds of thousands of mobiles. These mobiles can
be designated to load an individual Base Station and/or a network of
Base Stations. The MTS-7200 can be configured in three different ways:
- Using the API of a customer's own R1 device that provides airlink
support.
- Connected directly to a Base Station via a custom interface (perhaps
via Ethernet) without using R1.
- Using the API of a Mobile Metrics-specified R1 device that provides
airlink support.
Mobile Metrics offers the first two variants in the 7200's 1.0 release,
and plans to offer the third variant later this year.
The Torrent 7200 realistically simulates a wide variety of protocols
such as HTTP, WAP, MMS, PTT, MIP, SIP, RTCP, RTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, TCP,
UDP, ICMP, DNS, EAP, and RADIUS.
Test results are accurately characterized with high-resolution
histograms and over 450 hierarchically organized statistics. The Torrent
platform includes sophisticated remote debugging capability and other
diagnostics to make sure Mobile Metrics' personnel can respond quickly
to any issues or questions regarding the product, the system under test,
or the network environment.
