Arab telecom deploys Aperto gear in nationwide rollout in Kuwait.

Kuwait City, Kuwait -- Aperto Networks, builder of the world's most advanced WiMAX Forum Certified(TM) base stations and subscriber units, today announced that Arab Telecom is deploying a nationwide broadband wireless network in Kuwait using Aperto's state-of-the-art broadband wireless PacketWave(TM) gear.

Arab Telecom is deploying Aperto's PacketWave base stations operating in the 3.5 GHz band in a nationwide rollout covering Kuwait's population of 2.2 million people.

The company is using Aperto's gear to offer a range of connectivity services to enterprises, small businesses and residential users in urban and rural areas throughout Kuwait. The applications that will be available through Aperto's broadband wireless platform include remote WAN/LAN access, corporate intranets and extranets, high speed internet access, file transfer, interactive distance learning, video conferencing, information broadcast and telemedicine. The data rates range from 128 kilobits per second, up to multiple E1's.

"After a thorough evaluation of several wireless broadband solutions providers, we came to the conclusion that Aperto Networks had the most advanced and the most stable platform," said Ahmed Ebraheem, managing director, Arab Telecom. "We were especially pleased with the Quality of Service and the routing and advanced networking features built into Aperto's platform. Its flexible architecture ensures a future proof evolution as we implement new subscriber services in the coming months and years."

"We are delighted that Arab Telecom has chosen Aperto Networks' robust access network equipment to power Arab Telecom's multi-service access platform," said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing and alliances for Aperto Networks. "We look forward to our partnership with Arab Telecom as it rolls out new data, internet and video service applications to its growing user base."
