BreezeMAX™ 3300 Now Providing Broadband
Services in 8 Indian Cities
New Delhi, -- Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR), the world’s leading provider
of wireless broadband solutions along with Siemens Communications, a
global supplier of state-of-the art solutions in information and
communications, today announced that Bharti Airtel, India’s leading
private telecom carrier, is using their integrated WiMAX solution - the
BreezeMAX 3300 system - to build WiMAX networks across India.
With deployments currently in 8 cities, Bharti Airtel is using WiMAX to
augment its current broadband, fixed and cellular network infrastructure
to quickly offer affordable broadband data services to SME (small and
medium enterprises) customers in new markets and has plans to expand
this network to more cities throughout India. Alvarion’s BreezeMAX 3300
is an extension of its market leading WiMAX platform operating in
3.3GHz, the frequency band specifically licensed for WIMAX services in
India.
"Bharti is one of several WiMAX customers we have in APAC, a vast market
we defined long ago as having great potential for WiMAX given the
increasing need for broadband and the general lack of infrastructure
there," said Tzvika Friedman, president and CEO of Alvarion. "Leveraging
our widely deployed BreezeMAX system and our deep technical
capabilities, we were able to quickly and cost-effectively offer a WiMAX
product in the spectrum available to help Indian carriers close the
digital divide. This ability along with our many local partnerships and
global OEM partners, such as Siemens, enables us to address WiMAX demand
anywhere and do it with a market leading product.”
BreezeMAX™ is Alvarion’s WiMAX platform designed from the ground up
according to the IEEE 802.16 standards and uses OFDM technology for
advanced non-line-of-sight (NLOS) functionality. Its carrier-class
design supports broadband speeds and quality of service (QoS) to enable
carriers to offer triple play broadband services to thousands of
subscribers in a single base station. Since its launch in mid-2004,
BreezeMAX has been successfully deployed in over 150 successful
installations in more than 30 countries worldwide.
