Technology Partnership Delivers High-Performance, Cost Effective Mobile WiMAX Systems

WiMAX World, Booth #308 - Boston, MA -- SOMA Networks, Inc., a leading provider of Mobile WiMAX systems, and Sequans Communications, a leading supplier and developer of fixed and Mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, today announced an agreement to integrate Sequans' 802.16e-2005 technology and chipsets with SOMA's FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX System. The success of this technology partnership was recently proven at the WiMAX Forum Plugfest where SOMA and Sequans demonstrated streaming multiple, simultaneous traffic flows, in preparation for Mobile WiMAX 802.16e-2005 certification.

The FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX System is the industry's first fully converged, all-IP multimedia end-to-end system that delivers a complete turnkey broadband wireless solution including: base stations, subscriber devices with fully integrated multi-media applications, wirelessly upgradeable software, and optional customer lifecycle installation and support. Leveraging dynamic multi-antenna processing technology including AAS and MIMO, the FlexMAX System provides a single architecture that automatically adapts to rural, suburban, urban or even mixed environments to automatically maximize system throughput. By incorporating Sequans' technology, the FlexMAX System will empower service providers with the first Mobile WiMAX system to package low power consumption and a compact footprint, with the processing power to handle advanced wireless technology and high revenue applications.

"By working with Sequans Communications, the developer of the 'all in one solution' chip, we further our commitment to deliver complete, best-in-class Mobile WiMAX systems," said Yatish Pathak, CEO and Founder of SOMA Networks. "We will continue to capitalize on leading standards, revenue-generating applications and a strong ecosystem of partners, such as Sequans, to deliver industry leading FlexMAX solutions that allow our customers to accelerate time to market and share our vision of connecting the next billion people."

"We are very pleased to count SOMA Networks as a customer," said Dr. Georges Karam, president and CEO of Sequans Communications. "SOMA's end-to-end systems approach is essential for delivering carrier-class applications over WiMAX technology. Given that carriers want profitable, turnkey equipment solutions that can quickly deliver compelling services and applications, SOMA's FlexMAX Mobile WiMAX System is a solution that is certain to deliver the highest quality broadband experience, for service providers and their customers."

SOMA Networks is a Gold Sponsor of the 2006 WiMAX World Conference and Expo taking place at the Boston World Trade Center, October 10-12, 2006. Visit SOMA at booth #117 to learn about the latest Mobile WiMAX products and services. Sequans Communications may be found at WiMAX World, booth #308.
