Sequans' mobile WiMAX base station chipset to be incorporated in Aperto's PacketMAX base stations

WiMAX World, Booth #308 - Boston, MA -- SEQUANS Communications, a leading developer and provider of fixed and mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, announced today that Aperto, leading global provider of high performance WiMAX base stations and subscriber units, will use Sequans' mobile WiMAX chipsets in its PacketMAX WiMAX base stations. Sequans' mobile WiMAX chip solutions, supporting the recently ratified 802.16e-2005 broadband wireless access standard, provide equipment makers with a total physical layer and media access control (MAC) layer solution for developing high performance, cost-effective mobile WiMAX base stations and subscriber stations.

"Sequans' excellent performance in fixed WiMAX, its support organization, and its mobile WiMAX roadmap led us to select Sequans' chipset for our mobile WiMAX equipment development," said Manish Gupta, Aperto VP of marketing and alliances. "Their chips offer the features and flexibility we need to meet the demands of our customers in various markets around the world." "Aperto is successful in addressing the needs of large carriers in high growth markets such as India and Russia and they have an excellent reputation as a leading global WiMAX equipment supplier," said Bernard Aboussouan, Sequans VP of marketing. "We are pleased to contribute to their WiMAX system development." Sequans' base station chipset, SQN2110, is a flexible, high performance baseband solution suitable for macro base stations. It integrates in a 3-FPGA chipset all MAC and PHY features required for WiMAX Forum certification and enables WIMAX system manufacturers to develop powerful, feature-rich base stations with advanced functionality for managing quality of service, link adaptation, and handover management. In Q2 2007 Sequans will release SQN2130 for micro and pico base stations. See Sequans (booth 308) and Aperto (booth 313) at WiMAX World USA at the Boston World Trade Center, October 10-12.
